HOT PRESS PREMIERE - MAKE ME BELIEVE

February 4, 2021

"Hot Press is thrilled to premiere 'Make Me Believe', the debut single from Irish singer-songwriter Gavin Fox, alongside an accompanying music video shot in St. MacCullin's Church in Lusk, Co. Dublin.

...Over lockdown in 2020, he discovered a hidden talent for songwriting, and has explored his emotional story across three remarkably honest songs – of which 'Make Me Believe' is the first to be released. His debut EP, On Second Thoughts, is out on March 26.

Drawing influence from the legendary likes of Mundy and Villagers, 'Make Me Believe' firmly establishes Gavin Fox as one of the most compelling new singer-songwriters on these shores."

INDIE BUDDY REVIEW

February 13, 2021

"‘Make Me Believe’ is a moving indie-folk number announcing Gavin Fox’s powerfully emotive songwriting.

Driven by a foot-tapping beat the track exudes a cosy and soothing tone as Fox spreads uplifting guitar melodies over soft lamenting keys while soulful rasped vocals coo the lyrics with incredible warmth. Within the lyrics, Fox deals with themes of freedom and empowering oneself.

Fox certainly has a way with words. His poetic lyrics soothe and inspire all at once while displaying depth and a thought-provoking perspective...

Showcasing earnest songwriting and warm, passionate musicianship, ‘Make Me Believe’ is a stirring track from Gavin Fox. Looking forward to the EP."

RTÉ ENTERTAINMENT INTERVIEW

February 13, 2021

"Irish singer-songwriter Gavin Fox has released his debut single Make Me Believe. We asked him the BIG questions . . .

Who are your musical inspirations?

I enjoy listening to so many types of music, but I’m always drawn to artists who write their own stuff and write well, artists that are real and true. In terms of Irish acts, I grew up on the likes of The Stunning, The 4 of Us, Glen Hansard and then later came to love the madness and mayhem created by Jerry Fish and the Mudbug Club.

But I would have to say my biggest inspiration is Bob Dylan. I have been listening to his music for so much of my life and have never tired of it. Much of his music is simple, the magic is in the lyrics. His lyrics have so much depth and meaning. He is, in my opinion, the best lyricist that ever was, a musical poet."
